Cahaba Riverkeeper has received a second grant from the prestigious new Mosaic Foundation, allowing members of Waterkeepers Alabama (WAL) to work together as the 10 Rivers Project! WAL members – Cahaba Riverkeeper, Coosa Riverkeeper, Black Warrior Riverkeeper, Friends of Hurricane Creek, Coosa River Basin Initiative, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Choctawatchee Riverkeeper, Tennessee Riverkeeper, Little River Waterkeeper, and Mobile Baykeeper – will hold joint river patrols and share their experiences and expertise.
Cahaba, Coosa, and Black Warrior Riverkeeper held the first group patrols. Cahaba invited WAL members to visit the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge to learn about our work in Bibb County with the Abandoned Mines Land program and to see the Cahaba Lilies. Waterkeeper Alliance representative Patience Burke joined the Cahaba patrol. Ten Rivers was featured in Forbes as one of the programs of Mosaic, founded in 2020, to provide infrastructure support for those working to achieve clean air and water, a safe climate, healthy communities, and a thriving natural environment.
