Ten Rivers Patrol – #8 & #9

This December, we attended two Ten Rivers Patrols hosted by Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper and Hurricane Creekkeeper. On the Choctawhatchee patrol, Waterkeepers Alabama members learned about the challenges faced in a more rural watershed, visited several sites at Hutto Park, and had the opportunity to hear from the Choctawhatchee, Pea, and Yellow Rivers Authority.

Despite the cold weather and rain, the Hurricane Creek patrol carried on! Waterkeepers Alabama members discussed sewage overflows and poor site management. We visited a closed landfill that impacted the community for years and inspected the old sawmill where the wood that our office is built with was milled.
